Dear Mummy,
Sometimes, words are not enough to express the depth of my gratitude to you. I don't need a special day, a ceremony, or a big occasion to tell the world how much I appreciate you. Today, I just want to pause, reflect on our journey, and say from the bottom of my heart: THANK YOU, MUMMY, FOR EVERYTHING!
All the little things that meant everything
When we were young, you were always there for us. I remember how every Christmas, you made sure we had the best dresses, footwear, and gifts. The things you bought for us became the talk of the whole town of Kpong and even in church. We stood out among our peers, not because we had everything, but because you went out of your way to make us feel special. You gave us memories that money alone could never buy.
You bought a bicycle for Junior, and Sea got one for me too. I remember when you took me to Accra and bought me one of the finest watches at the time. Mummy, that watch became the talk of the entire Holy Star Academy! It was so remarkable that the teachers had to call you to come for it and ask that I stop bringing it to school because it was influencing the other children. 😂❤️
Hmmmmm, Mummy! Whenever I remember these things, I smile because I realise that even at that young age, you were doing everything possible to make us happy, confident, and proud among our peers. You wanted us to have the best of what you could afford, and you never hesitated to make sacrifices for us.
You personally took me to boarding school in Kasoa and provided everything I needed. You made sure I had what was necessary for my education and comfort. You did not simply send me to school; you invested in my future.
I also remember the day I had to go to Senior Secondary School at Accra Academy. Hmmmmm, Mummy! The two of us had to endure the rain together as we searched for school placement for me. We went through the rain, the stress, and the uncertainty because you wanted me to get an education and have a better future.
Looking back today, I realise that it was never just about finding a school placement. It was a mother fighting for her child's future. You were willing to go through the rain with me so that one day I could stand in the sunshine of a better life.
Mummy, you went through the rain with me so that I could have a brighter future. How can I ever forget that?
You made room for us to grow
When the era of mobile phones came, you bought me my very first phone, a Nokia. When computers became the new thing, you bought our first computer, a Pentium II, through that DJ guy, Forster, who is now a pastor. Later, you went on to buy us laptops, always making sure we were not left behind as the world advanced.
Mummy, you were determined to see us grow, learn, and move with the times. You understood that the world was changing, and you wanted us to have the tools and opportunities to succeed. Many of the things that seemed ordinary at the time have become precious memories that remind me of your love and sacrifice.
YOU DID NOT JUST RAISE US; YOU PREPARED US FOR THE FUTURE.
When it mattered most, you were there
Mummy, I also remember my hernia operations and how you stood by me through those difficult moments. When I was at ASAMIAN, you were there for me. I remember how some of the friends I thought would be there for me, including Stephen, never even came to visit me during that difficult period.
But Mummy, YOU WERE THERE!
When I needed care, comfort, encouragement, and someone to lean on, you showed up. You did not need anyone to remind you of your responsibility as a mother. Your love made you present.
That experience taught me a powerful lesson: many people may be around us when everything is going well, but it takes a special kind of love to remain present when life becomes difficult. You were there when I was sick, when I needed medical care, and when I was vulnerable.
Mummy, you were my mother, my caregiver, my encourager, and my dependable support system. You stood beside me in the hospital, fought for my education, and continued to support me as I grew into the man I am today.
Hmmmmm, Mummy! Sometimes, I wonder whether you truly understand the depth of what you have done for us. Some sacrifices may have passed as ordinary moments in your life, but to us, they are unforgettable chapters of our story.
You stood beside me through it all
You helped shape my future in ways I can never fully explain. You connected me to my first job through Lawyer Asafo Adjie to Ben at Netsystem. You also helped me secure my first contract through Kofi Neku at Akrosu SHS.
When I began ministry, you supported me with chairs. You did not look down on my vision because it was just beginning. You supported me with what you could, and that support helped me take steps forward.
Mummy, thank you for believing in me, supporting my dreams, and helping me build my life. Thank you for understanding that every great journey begins with small steps and for being willing to support me at every stage.
And Mummy, there is another part of my life that I can never forget: you stood by me through my marital struggles, my divorce, and my journey to remarriage.
You were there for me through my marital issues, when things did not go as expected and life became difficult. You stood with me even when that marriage ended in divorce. You never stopped being my mother. You did not abandon me because of what I was going through. Instead, you continued to support me, encourage me, and stand beside me through that painful chapter of my life.
When I had to pick up the pieces and find the courage to begin again, you were still there. You supported me until God gave me another opportunity to remarry and begin a new chapter of my life.
Mummy, that kind of love is priceless.
You saw me through pain, disappointment, uncertainty, and new beginnings. You stood with me when life did not turn out the way I had hoped, and you continued to encourage me as I found my way forward.
You did not only celebrate my victories; you stood with me through my battles.
You loved me through the difficult seasons of my life. You never allowed my struggles to erase the love you had for me. For this, Mummy, I will forever be grateful.
I may not have always found the right words to express my appreciation, but please know that I see your sacrifices, I remember your support, and I do not take your love for granted.
When I look back at my life, I see your fingerprints everywhere. I see them in my education, in my opportunities, in my career, in my ministry, and even in the strength I found to rise again after difficult moments.
Mummy, so much of my story carries a piece of you.
A love that reaches beyond today
And today, you have gone even further by providing a car for us and securing lands for us and our children. You are not just thinking about our present; you are thinking about generations yet unborn.
You are laying foundations that will benefit our children and their children. You are thinking beyond yourself and beyond today. That is the heart of a true mother, a builder, and a generational blessing.
Mummy, when I look at all these things, I realise that your love has never been limited to what we need at the moment. You have consistently thought about our future, our comfort, our progress, and our children's inheritance.
From the clothes and footwear at Christmas, to the bicycles, the watch, the Nokia phone, the Pentium II computer, the laptops, the education, the job opportunities, the ministry support, the car, and the lands, you have continued to show us love in practical ways.
And beyond the material things, you have given us something even more valuable: your presence, your encouragement, your sacrifices, and your unwavering support.
What touches me most is that even after doing so much, you have never stopped supporting us in your own way. You continue to give, encourage, provide, and show love.
You may consider some of these things small, but to us, they are enormous expressions of love that we will never take for granted.
Mummy, I don't need a special occasion to celebrate you. I don't need a birthday, Mother's Day, or a ceremony to tell you how much you mean to me. Every time I remember where we started, the things we went through together, how far you have brought us, and how you continue to stand with us, my heart is filled with gratitude.
May God reward your every sacrifice
I know that no amount of money, gifts, or words can fully repay you for everything you have done. But I pray that God will reward you in ways that we, your children, could never afford to.
May the Lord preserve your life and grant you many more years in good health and strength. May He bless the work of your hands and reward every sacrifice you have made for us. May you live long enough to see your children, grandchildren, and generations after them prosper and fulfil their destinies.
May you never lack anything good. May the same God who has enabled you to be a blessing to us raise people who will be a blessing to you.
May your old age be peaceful, joyful, and filled with love. May you enjoy the fruits of your labour while you are alive. May you sit among your children and grandchildren, smile with satisfaction, and see the beautiful harvest of all the seeds you have sown in our lives.
May every tear you have shed for us, every prayer you have prayed, every sacrifice you have made, and every burden you have carried become a testimony of God's goodness in your life.
Mummy, you are more than a mother to us. You are a foundation, a pillar, a provider, a protector, an encourager, and a generational blessing.
Your life has taught me that true love is not only expressed through words. It is seen in the sacrifices we make, the people we stand beside, the burdens we help carry, and the commitment to remain present even when life becomes difficult.
You have demonstrated that kind of love to us over and over again.
If I had a thousand lives
If I could go back in time, I would want you to know that every Christmas gift, every school expense, every bicycle, every sacrifice in the rain, every hospital visit, every opportunity, every word of encouragement, and every act of support mattered more than you could ever imagine.
Thank you for the clothes, the shoes, the bicycles, the watch, the phones, the computers, the education, the jobs, the contracts, the ministry support, the care during my hernia operations, the emotional support through my marital struggles and divorce, your encouragement as I remarried, the car, the lands, and everything else you have done for us.
Thank you for being there when I was young and needed direction. Thank you for standing by me when I was sick. Thank you for helping me pursue my education. Thank you for supporting my career and ministry. Thank you for standing with me when my marriage failed and encouraging me as I started again.
Thank you for thinking about our children and future generations. Thank you for making sacrifices without keeping records. Thank you for giving us memories we can tell our children and grandchildren. Thank you for being the woman you are.
MUMMY, IF I HAD A THOUSAND LIVES, I WOULD STILL BE GRATEFUL TO GOD FOR GIVING ME A MOTHER LIKE YOU.
You are truly one in a million. There may be many mothers in this world, but nobody can replace the place you occupy in our lives. Your love, your sacrifices, and your impact on our family are things we will carry in our hearts forever.
I may never be able to repay you fully, but I pray that my life, my progress, my ministry, and the future of our family will bring you joy and make you proud.
May God bless you beyond your imagination. May He reward every sacrifice you have made in secret, every tear you have wiped away, every prayer you have prayed for us, and every seed of love you have sown into our lives.
May your latter years be greater than your former years. May your strength be renewed, your heart be filled with peace, and your home be filled with laughter. May you enjoy the love, honour, and care of the very children you have worked so hard to raise.
Mummy, thank you for everything. Thank you for the sacrifices nobody saw, the struggles we faced together, the opportunities you created, and the love you continue to give.
And above all, thank you for being my mother
Today, I simply want to say what has been in my heart for a long time.
THANK YOU, MUMMY!
Thank you for walking with me through the rain on the road to Accra Academy. Thank you for standing beside me during my hernia operations. Thank you for supporting my education, my career, and my ministry. Thank you for standing with me through my marital struggles, my divorce, and my remarriage. Thank you for helping us build a future for ourselves and our children.
And above all, thank you for being my mother.
YOU ARE ONE IN A MILLION, MUMMY, AND WE WILL NEVER TAKE YOU FOR GRANTED.
Your labour of love will never be forgotten. Your sacrifices will never be in vain. Your name will forever be written in the story of our lives, and the generations that come after us will hear about the woman who gave so much to help us become who we are.
I pray that God will grant you the privilege of witnessing the full fruits of everything you have planted in our lives.
We love you deeply, Mummy. We honour you. We appreciate you. And we thank God for the precious gift of your life.
May God bless you today, tomorrow, and for all the years He grants you.
